Southern Neighbourhood
Climate and social justice

The European Union has launched a new call for proposals as part of the action “Cities of the southern neighbourhood take action for the climate” (Climate for Cities). Covering the countries of the southern neighbourhood like Jordan, Libya, or Tunisia, this project is directly based on the achievements of the CES-MED and Clima-MED projects by supporting and accelerating the financing of the SECAPs and similar initiatives aimed at increasing resilience to climate change and the sustainable use of natural resources at the local level.

The objective of Call for Proposals is to contribute to sustainable human development by promoting a transition towards greener and climate-resilient cities in the Southern Neighbourhood, in line with countries’ commitments under the Paris Agreement, and making optimum use of climate finance instruments.

The Climate for Cities (C4C) Programme aims to promote the transition towards greener and climate-resilient cities in the Southern Neighbourhood, in line with countries’ commitments under the Paris Agreement. The programme will support the implementation of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAPs) and comparable local level plans aimed at increasing climate resilience and sustainable use of natural resources.
