The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Kingdom of Jordan signed a USD 59 million loan agreement to support the country’s healthcare sector during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Once available, this fund will help the Ministry of Health with the procurement of Covid-19 vaccines and the implementation of the vaccination campaign.

The EIB fund, being part of the NC COVID-19 public healthcare programme loan and approved by the administration of the bank in June 2020, will equally allow the ministry to buy other necessary medical supplies and equipment, personal protective equipment, ambulances and other medical vehicles.

Moreover, the loan will help with the implementation of the Jordanian national plan to contain the propagation of the pandemic which aims to contain the spread of the virus and to mitigate its effects.
