During a meeting with the Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, the head of operations of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Tunisia, Nodira Mansurova, affirmed the institution’s willingness to diversify its areas of partnership with Tunisia and to continue its support, particularly in the energy sector, renewable energies, and electricity transfer.
As for the programme that EBRD put to improve the performance of the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG), Nodira Mansurova recalled that a credit of €300 million (nearly 973 million dinars), accompanied by a grant of €24 million (about 77.8 million dinars), will be granted to the company in order to help it set up a new IT system, improve its governance, and digitalise its services.
The programme has two parts. The first part amounts to €100 million that aims at immediate stabilisation of STEG. The second amounts to €200 million and will help finance the company’s short and medium term commitments.
