Migration and mobility

On the sidelines of his participation in the Euro-African meeting on migration held in Portugal, the head of the Tunisian government, Hichem Mechichi, announced that his country refuses creating a centre for migrants on its territory.

Announcing that Tunisia has already started the implementation of the global strategy aimed at limiting irregular migration, Mechichi explained that migration cannot be considered a permanent threat but rather a factor contributing to economic, social, and cultural development as well as a factor in bringing people together.

The Head of Government also called for the continuation of the 5+5 dialogue launched in countries of the Mediterranean in order to reflect on adequate solutions to the problem of migration.
